TEKTELIC's KIWI Sensor is one of the most hotly anticipated LoRaWAN devices. It's the ideal solution to streamline the collection of key soil and environmental metrics for crops, residential and commercial lawns and gardens and golf courses.
The device provides a straightforward and easy to deploy solution for soil moisture and temperature, air temperature and humidity, and outdoor light monitoring. Enjoy increased crop yields and decreased operating expenses with the deployment of this versatile device.
The KIWI Sensor is built within a rugged and waterproof IP-67 enclosure for use in the most challenging outdoor environmental conditions. An integrated C-Cell Lithium battery provides an exceptional battery life up to 10 years in realistic conditions.
The Agriculture sensor is available in two variants. This one is the pole/wall mount version with an external probe, which is best for agricultural use. This sensor unit can be screwed to a wall or fence post, or attached to a pole, vine or tree using cable ties or pole clamps. There is a version with built-in probes, called CLOVER, which is best for greenkeeping.
The sensor shipped with a battery pre-installed, deployment involves connecting the probe and burying it at the chosen depth, then waking the unit from sleep mode using a magnet to begin measurements.
The patented Watermark external probe supplied with the sensor is a an industry standard Granular Matrix Sensor, tried and tested in the field for many years.
The probe has 1.5m of cable, so it can be positioned at various depths, depending on application. A single Agriculture Sensor supports one or two watermark/thermistor probes, allowing for multi-depth measurement.
The sensor will send back readings from the Watermark probes by default, but the thermistors need to be enabled by downlinks. Here are the downlinks to enable them, send them on port 100:
A7 00 01
A8 00 01

You can also enable the onboard temperature and humidity sensors in the device with this downlink on port 100:
